In 2011–12, over 60% of arts and design students in the UK were female but in that same year just 31% of London galleries presented work by women. RA events include a free drop-in workshop, led by RA Schools graduate Becky Jelly and students from the RA’s A-level mentoring scheme ‘attRAct’, a special screening of feature documentary Mirrors to Windows: The Artist as Woman, and a panel discussion including Royal Academicians’ Cathie Pilkington and Eileen Cooper who will be contemplating their own experiences of forging a career as a female artist in the 21st century.
