Olivier Dupuis reaches 15th day of hunger strike for Chechnya

Chechnya: On 9 March, Olivier Dupuis reached the 15th day of his hunger strike for Chechnya, which began on 21 February when the Secretary of the Radical Party sent a letter to Pat Cox, the President of the European Parliament, and to his fellow MEPs ( read the letter here). Since then he has been joined in the non-violent initiative by Oumar Khanbiev, Minister of Health in the Chechen Government, who has been on hunger since 5 March, and Andrei Rodionov, Secretary of the Russian Radical Anti-militarist Association, who joined the hunger strike on 25 February.

Meanwhile the President of the EU-Russia Delegation of the European Parliament, Bart Staes, has announced that Akhmed Zakaev, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and negotiator appointed by President Maskhadov, Ylias Akhmadov, Foreign Minister, and Oumar Khanbiev, Minister of Health, will be heard during the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Thursday 14 March.
