International Peace Walk in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

by: Marcus Atkinson

USA: The International Peace Walk will commence at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee which was one of the main facilities to develop the only atomic bombs used in war that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and it will end at the Non Proliferation Treaty Review in New York.

Sadly, in 2002, the United States reversed its position when it decided to use nuclear weapons against countries with which the United Sates has major disagreements. This choice seriously undermined the treaty.

Approximately 15 to 20 miles will be walked each day. Drugs and alcohol are strictly forbidden. All are welcome.

The walk is sponsored by the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance, FootPrints for Peace, International Peace Pilgrimage, Nipponzan Myohoji and the Mayors for Peace Campaign.
