Iraqi: South Korea banned reporting on the deployment of troops from August until they had arrived in the city of Arbil in northern Iraqi to begin peacekeeping duties.
Another 800 soldiers will be airlifted there after their camp is constructed in November. The blockading of the news in South Korea did not have the desired effect of keeping citizens in the dark however, as civic group members demonstrated against the deployment by waging sit-ins and clashing with police outside the gates of the training base of the troops and a military airport where they had boarded chartered flights to Kuwait.
