PHOTO: Via Nukewatch , | Wisconsin: On 18 September at 1:30 pm, Bonnie Urfer of Luck, Wisconsin, appeared in front of Magistrate Stephen Crocker in Federal District Court in Madison for her 10 May, 2003 line crossing at the ELF facility near Clam Lake, Wisconsin. Ms Urfer pled guilty to the petty misdemeanor charge of trespass and asked Magistrate Crocker to sentence her directly.
In her statement read in court, Ms Urfer said, "I’m guilty of much more than you can ever imagine. I think we all are...I live and participate in a culture that’s killing its people." She made clear her intention to not pay any fine or do any community service. Magistrate Crocker sentenced Ms Urfer to 30 days in jail, which she began immediately. She is currently being held in the Dane County Jail in Madison where she will most likely remain for the 30 days.
Ms Urfer was arrested with nine others as part of the annual Mothers' Day
Gathering at Project ELF. The nine other line crossers pled not guilty in an 18 July arraignment and will appear in front of Magistrate Crocker for their trial on 24 October. The controversial ELF (extremely low frequency)transmitter sends secret one-way messages to nuclear armed Trident and Cruise missile-armed Fast Attack submarines around the world.
