CAMPAIGN PROFILE
Action for Southern Africa (ACTSA)
ACTSA was formed in 1994 as the successor organisa-
tion to the Anti Apartheid Movement. Since then ACTSA
has been campaigning tirelessly for justice, rights and
democracy for the people of southern Africa.
This year ACTSA continues its high-profile campaigns
for rights in Zimbabwe, against HIV/AIDS and for univer-
sal access to critical drugs, on Nelson Mandela at 90, for
corporate accountability, and around trade and gender.
In 2002, British company Cape Asbestos was forced to
pay out £7.5 million in compensation to communities
where it had operated, following ACTSA's campaign in
solidarity with Cape's workers.
Our flagship "Dignity! Period" campaign has resulted in
the distribution of almost 3 million much-needed sanitary
products to the women of Zimbabwe, restoring their dig-
nity and protecting their health. Only this February
ACTSA's campaigning resulted in the European Union
renewing its targeted measures against Mugabe.
As a member-led, democratic organisation ACTSA's
campaigning strength comes from its supporters and
that's why we need your help.
On 8 March, ACTSA will be holding a Rally for Dignity and
Democracy in Zimbabwe, to join us call: 0203 263 2001;
