Earth First! heads for West Wales this summer l
EF!ers
Aimed at people who are fed up with barefaced lies from politicians, big business and the media, and who have had enough of a world where corporate profit comes before life and dignity, Earth First! invites those who want to share ideas on direct action for "people and the planet" to its Summer Gathering from 16 to 20 August.
The gathering will include workshops, discussions, outings, and entertainment. Workshops already planned include kids' workshops, legal workshops, discussions on opposing road and airport expansion, and Faslane 365, organising actions and campaigns, counter-recruitment, and blockade tactics. Participants are invited to bring information about any groups, campaigns or actions they're involved in.
Getting logistical
Adults coming to this event need to pay #15 towards the running costs, and since everyone is crew, all are expected to help out with tasks while on site. GM-free vegan food will be available from the Anarchist Teapot at #4 per day for three meals.
The Gathering is outdoors (in a field), so participants will need a tent, sleeping bag, and some warm and waterproof clothes.
There will be quiet and not-so-quiet camping areas, along with areas for women/queer, and an accessible camping area. There will also be a library, kids' space, teen space, first aid tent, healing area, compost toilets and washing facilities. In addition, a kids' kitchen will be offered.
Inclusive and accessible
EF!ers are working to make this an inclusive and accessible Gathering; the field site is fairly level and people who use wheelchairs have participated fully in many previous EF! gatherings. Please call us to discuss any access needs you may have. A limited number of spaces will be available for live-in vehicles for people who can't camp; these must be booked in advance.
The Gathering site is served by public transport, but for anyone unable to use the bus service, pickups can be arranged from the nearest stations. The organising group requests plenty of notice if this service is required.
EF! plan to reveal the exact location of the Gathering one week before the event is due to take place. The nearest mainline stations will be posted on the website at least a month in advance.
For a map and travel details by post, please send a first class SAE marked "GATHERING MAP" to the address below. Details will be returned by 9 August.
