Faslane G8
Kicking off the G8 week in style, an estimated 2,000 people participated in a particularly "big"
blockade at the Faslane naval base, home to Britain's four nuclear powered - and armed - Trident submarines.
Organised as a nonviolent, antimilitarist action, aiming to "highlight the links between poverty and
war, militarism and destructive globalisation", the day spent lounging around outside the base in the sun seems to have been
a particularly fluffy action. While the base was blockaded for ten hours, police seemed content to leave prone protestors:
Faslane remained closed for the day.
Four people were arrested for minor incursions into the base.
