Probably the nicest thing in the book, though it's only a small detail, is the absence note written by the mother of one of the protesters to his teacher ("Edmund has not been in school today because he has been taking part in a trespass and other nonviolent direct action at Warton airfield ... I consider it a very good and sufficient reason for missing a day's school").
